Universal Basic Income:A Solution for the Technological Crisis in the Age of Artificial Intelligence - 149-165
Abstract
This article explores the potential synergies between universal basic income (UBI) and transhumanism, a policy proposal that aims to provide all citizens with a basic income, regardless of their employment status or income level. UBI aims to provide a safety net for individuals and families, ensuring access to basic necessities of life, regardless of their economic circumstances. Transhumanism, on the other hand, aims to use technology to enhance human capabilities and extend life, aiming to create a better future for humanity by overcoming physical, cognitive, and emotional limitations.
UBI provides financial security and the freedom to pursue new opportunities, allowing individuals to focus on developing their skills, talents, and passions. With UBI, people have the resources and time to invest in themselves and improve their lives. Transhumanism offers individuals the tools and technology to improve their physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities, thanks to advances in neuroscience, genetics, and artificial intelligence.
However, the article notes that practical challenges need to be considered when implementing both UBI and transhumanism. For example, UBI could discourage work, increase inflation, and create a culture of dependency. Transhumanism raises ethical, social, and economic questions, such as the impact on human identity, privacy, and inequality.
