Creativity and AI. On Aesthetic Evolution as a Paradigmatic Change of Homo Creativus - 133-148

Marius Băcanu

Abstract

The paper explores the relationship between creativity and artificial intelligence (AI), addressing the paradigm shift in aesthetic evolution and the role of homo creativus. It delves into historical perspectives on creativity, emphasizing its transformation from a divine privilege to an individual capability. The study discusses how AI influences creative processes through computational methods such as deep learning and neural networks, raising questions about the nature of artistic creation, intentionality, and aesthetic evolution. While AI can generate art and design, it lacks human-like intentionality and subjective experience. The paper highlights the interplay between novelty and familiarity in creativity, emphasizing the balance needed for innovation to be accepted. Ultimately, the discussion centers on whether AI can truly be creative or remains a tool for human artistic expression.
